Services Matched
to the Movement
Whether your watch needs a cell and a seal or a full complication overhaul, the approach here is the same: honest assessment, agreed scope, documented outcome. Pricing in Malaysian Ringgit, no surprises.
Back to HomeOur Service Methodology
Every service at Intan Masa follows the same sequence, regardless of whether the watch is a quartz daily wearer or a complicated piece with multiple modules. The sequence exists because shortcuts have consequences that show up months later, not at collection.
We do not begin work before agreeing the scope and price with you. If something unexpected is found once the movement is open, we stop, photograph what we have found, and contact you before proceeding. The timeline quoted at intake is held unless parts procurement or machining extends it — in which case, we notify you immediately.
The same lubricants and cleaning materials are used across the service range. A quartz watch deserves the same quality of materials as an automatic, even if the labour differs substantially.
Standard Service Sequence
Intake, condition record, and photography
Initial diagnostics and assessment
Written quotation and client agreement
Disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
Lubrication with correct-grade materials
Regulation and timing verification
Case reassembly and seal renewal
Pressure testing (where applicable)
Service record and client notification
Quartz Tune-Up & Pressure Check
A focused visit for daily-wear quartz watches. The technician replaces the cell, inspects the circuit for corrosion, renews the crown and case-back gaskets, and completes a static pressure test. Surface cleaning and a light polish of the bracelet finish the service. Suitable for office watches, travel companions, and gift watches kept in regular rotation. Usually returned within a single afternoon.
What is included
- Battery replacement with quality cell
- Circuit and contact inspection for corrosion
- Crown and case-back gasket renewal
- Static pressure test with recorded result
- Case and bracelet surface clean
Automatic Service & Regulation
A thorough visit for automatic movements showing timing drift or inconsistent winding. The workshop demagnetises the movement, cleans the reversing wheels, lubricates the keyless works, and regulates the watch across five positions. A new sapphire or mineral crystal can be fitted by request. The client receives timing graphs at handover so they can compare before and after. Two weeks turnaround on average.
What is included
- Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
- Demagnetisation
- Reversing wheel and keyless works service
- Five-position regulation
- Timing graph (before and after) at handover
- All seals renewed, pressure test included
- Crystal replacement on request (quoted separately)
Chronograph & Complication Overhaul
A detailed service for chronographs, moonphases, annual calendars, and similar complications. Work includes module separation, independent cleaning of base calibre and complication, renewal of all seals, and careful reassembly with correct torque. Where a part is no longer available, the workshop proposes in-house machining or respectful refurbishment rather than substitution. Timeline is agreed after inspection and typically runs four to eight weeks.
What is included
- Module separation and independent cleaning
- Base calibre full service (as Service II)
- Complication module service and reassembly
- All seals and case-back gaskets renewed
- In-house machining option for unavailable parts
- Timing and function verification
- Full written service record

Workshop Standards
Secure Overnight Storage
Watches in progress are labelled and locked overnight. The premises are alarmed. Your watch is never left unsecured.
Anti-Static & Anti-Magnetic
Work surfaces are maintained to reduce static discharge risk. All automatic movements are checked for magnetism before reassembly.
Correct-Grade Lubricants
Lubricants are applied by type and position — train oils, pallet and impulse pin greases, keyless work greases. No single-grade approach.
Pre- and Post-Service Checks
Functions are verified before disassembly and after reassembly. Discrepancies between the two records are investigated before the watch is returned.
No Work Without Agreement
Any work that deviates from the agreed scope requires your confirmation before it proceeds. This applies to parts, substitutions, and scope additions.
Post-Service Cover
If an issue related directly to the service work appears after collection, bring the watch back. We attend to it without an additional service charge.
